Peel questions, answered
How long does the Perfect Derma™ Peel take?+
The appointment itself takes about 30 minutes. The solution stays on your skin for several hours at home, and you rinse it off at the time Lady J tells you — usually 4 to 6 hours later.
How many days does the peeling last?+
Most clients start shedding on day 3 and finish by day 6 or 7. A superficial depth peel gives light flaking; a medium depth peel sheds more and corrects more.
What should I stop using before my peel?+
Stop retinoids, retinol, glycolic and salicylic acids and benzoyl peroxide 5 to 7 days before. Skip waxing, threading, laser, dermaplaning and microchanneling for 7 days prior, and avoid sun and self-tanner for two weeks.
Can I wear makeup after a chemical peel?+
No makeup for the first 24 hours. After that, mineral makeup only until peeling is fully finished, so nothing lifts or irritates the shedding skin.
Is the Perfect Derma™ Peel safe for darker skin tones?+
Yes. It is glutathione-rich and safe for all Fitzpatrick types I–VI when the depth is matched to your skin type and condition, which is why every peel starts with a consultation.
How often can I repeat the peel?+
Most clients do a series of three peels spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. For acne scarring and texture we alternate peels with ProCell Microchanneling.
What if I have a history of cold sores?+
Tell Lady J before your appointment. A peel can trigger an outbreak, so antiviral prophylaxis from your provider may be advised before treatment.
What should I never do during the peeling week?+
Never pick, pull, scrub or exfoliate peeling skin, and avoid direct sun, saunas, steam rooms and heavy sweating for seven days. Wear SPF 30+ daily and reapply.
